Gourmet cupcake class

Hi

So it was all the way from Dagenham to Chelmsford to learn how to make cupcakes on the original cupcake course.

I told you about my filled cupcake class at L'atelier des chef,The second class on my road trip which I booked on-line as well was at the Gourmet cupcake company in Chelmsford,it started at 10am and wrapped up around 3pm.

On arrival we were given recipe cards and we proceeded to bake the cakes from the recipes given to us,we had to be precise with our measurements.we were told our cakes would be better if our measurements were precise.

We made domed and flat top cakes by weighing out the amounts we put in the cases. While our cakes were cooking we made decorations from gum paste for our cakes-ribbons,buttons,we learnt how to use sugar craft tools. We made butter cream icing ,also how to  colour and flavour butter cream icing.
Our tutor taught us how to fill a piping bag and pipe butter cream swirls on to our delicious cupcakes.we also learnt how to make fondant to pour on our cupcakes.

You take home 12 pretty cupcakes in sturdy white boxes and get a certificate of participation,
If you decide to book another course on the day you get a discount and on the day of the course you can also buy items from the shop and get a 10% discount.

My verdict-a lovely shop,a lovely course,it was quite enlightening for me on my cake road-trip. Sorry I don't have more photos,

These are my cakes, pretty aren't they even if I say so myself.
Making the cupcakes have inspired me to make some more on my own
Those below I made at home after my two classes,

I will be writing about my next class and  you can  be the judge of my progress

See you

Shols.

Custom cupcakes at L'atelier des chefs

Hi,
I was talking about how I started my sojourn in cake and the classes I attended when I decided to get serious with my cake baking and decorating.

I went searching for courses and classes and made a list of near and not so near and affordable and not so affordable.By a process af elimination I made a short list and I am steadily making my way down the list.

The very first class I went to was L'atelier des Chefs in Central London,I wanted to learn how to make filled cupcakes and the class was a lovely one,our chef was lovely,I think he is from New Zealand, very patient and explained every step.

We made lovely lemon meringue cupcakes filled with lemon curd which we also made there.we learnt how to make honeycomb,we made red velvet cupcakes, malted chocolate and honeycomb cupcakes and a luscious vanilla cupcake,it was a 2 hour class and was advertised as £72.00 but I got a 10% discount when booking.

I enjoyed it immensely. They even served wine at the beginning of the class, you also had a discount to use in their cookstore on that day.

Six cupcakes were boxed to take home, all in all a beautiful day.

My cakes, all squashed from the journey home on bus 25,but they still tasted delicious.

First Steps

Hi,
My name is Shols and this is my cake journey,I decided to indulge my love of baking and cake decoration and take classes in and around London and the Home Counties,

I will also talk about my bakes, favourite recipes, disasters and triumphs.equipment and products that I have made my journey easy or easier.

Like most people I learned watching mum and also my sisters,my sisters did Home Economics in secondary school and practised at home.During the summer holidays we would pool our resources bake cakes and meat pies and sell to friends and family.

So back to the present I checked up on the internet and found me some classes which I will tell you about.

See you

Shols
